Austin Game Conference Slates Ambitious Return with Game Community Backing and Presenting Sponsor Electronic Arts
Largest and Longest Running Online Game Development Forum Presents ‘Running Live: Game Development Evolved’
AUSTIN, Texas – One of the nation’s largest game development meccas is about to get its show back. Created in 2003 but on hiatus since 2012, the Austin Game Conference (AGC) – the largest, longest running event dedicated to serving the needs of online game developers – returns to the Austin Convention Center Sept. 21-22, 2016 with the support of game development community and presenting sponsor Electronic Arts.
Re-launched by original founder, Austin Game Conference Executive Director Christopher Sherman, the event this year presents, “Running Live: Game Development Evolved,” offering critical insight into the development of live, participatory games with real-time engagement between developers, players and spectators.
In addition to a robust trade show floor, conference tracks including design, business/production/live, virtual reality/augmented reality (VR/AR) and audience participation (streaming and eSports) are expected to attract upwards of 1,000 participants, speakers and sponsors from across the nation and around the world.
Austin enjoys national prominence as a tech hub, particularly among the game development community, boasting 175 game development studios and thousands of programmers, engineers, designers and artists, many of whom, are serving as architects of cutting-edge game development and design.

Created in 2003 but on hiatus since 2012, AGC was acquired by UBM Tech, the owners of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in 2006. UBM renamed the show GDC Austin and subsequently GDC Online.
